Taking Care of Your Eyes
As the popular saying goes, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” your eyes are the first things people notice when they look at your face so you have to make sure they are in good shape at all times. How do you do this?
Stay away from Smoke: Whether it is smoke from the environment or smoke from taking a cigarette or even any other harmful substance that could affect your eyes and make it look reddish. Keep such substances away from your eyes. Apart from being around smoke being bad for your lungs, it’s also bad for your eyes. You don’t need your eyes getting all red and teary. To look younger, your eyes have to be bright and clean always.
Wear Sunglasses
Never leave your house without your sunglasses especially on sunny days. You have to make sure your eyes and your eye area are protected against the sun at all times. I never leave the house without my sunglasses. If it’s not so sunny outside, I put it in my bag and carry it with me wherever I go. I’m sure you already know that sunglasses help block the Sun rays from getting to your eyes. Because when the sun is high and you’re outdoors without sunglasses, you tend to squinch your eyes. This usually leads to lines around your eyes and causes you to wrinkle fast.
Always Have A Face Cap
Face caps help cover the face in other words they protect your face against the sun. Make sure you always have a face cap on when outdoors on sunny days.
Be tender on your Under Eye Bag
Have you ever tried to use a Mascaras or eyeliner, and the eyeliner or mascara touches the upper/lower parts of your eyelids, so to rectify the situation you take a tissue or a cloth to wipe it off, but when you do, you press too hard against your eye bags that it becomes a little reddish or darkish?
I noticed some people do this a lot, especially when cleaning their under-eye area. Either when attempting to wipe off old makeup or when taking a shower.
The wrong thing about doing this is, over time your eye bags begin to look sore and dark. You begin to have this tired look like someone who has been sleep-deprived. This can cause you to wrinkle fast around your eye area.
Remedy: When you find yourself in such a situation where your mascara or eyeliner touches on the wrong side of your eye area, do this instead.
Get an earbud, get the cotton part wet, then tap it on the stained spot of your eye area.
That should do the trick. Also when you are taking a bath, try using foam sponge instead of the usual body sponge and wipe softly against the eye area. Trust me, You should never apply pressure when it comes to your eyes.
Use An Eye Serum
An often missed step in preparing for bed at night is to apply some type of eye serum. You don’t have to go crazy and spend hundreds of dollars on brands like La Mer (though they are really good). Personally I use Thielo’s Natural Revitalizing Extracts Eye Serum. Their system uses a lot of natural ingredients and they are one of the few brands that promote self care.
Eye Brows
You should always make sure your eyebrows are properly carved. you don’t necessarily have to shave it all off. Also, you don’t need to make it too thin either.
Your eyebrows could be full and yet decently shaped. A properly shaped eyebrow can make you look younger than you are. Another very important thing to do with your eyebrow if you must look younger than your age is to consciously raise your eyebrows, it gives your face a curious look and you’d look younger. If you doubt me, go to the mirror right now and try it.
Go light on Your Make Up
Makeup is fast becoming a lifestyle on its own in today’s world. Seeing that it has been practiced for many generations back.
I have seen a lot of gorgeous makeup tutorials on the internet where a beautiful natural face gets transformed into a gorgeous made-up face.
The thing with some of these videos is, most times these ‘face transformations’ almost look plastic.
This is usually because of the excess amount of makeup — contouring, Highlighting, blushing and whatnot, that is being done to the face.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m against any of these, I wear makeup occasionally but there is a time for such.
If its something you do once in a long while or at least when it’s necessary, that’s okay but when it becomes a daily routine, then that’s a problem for your face.
This is because you aren’t giving your face enough time to breathe. Plastering all that makeup on blocks the pores on your and that’s not good because your skin needs to breathe.
So when next you apply makeup, try not to use too much of it. Also, try to wipe off or preferable wash off the makeup before bedtime.
Eat Healthy
Your food intake matters when it comes to how young you look. When you eat the right amount of food/nutrient your body needs, your body keeps getting healthier, and smoother.
When I say the right amount of food, I mean eating to your satisfaction and not obsessively avoiding eating to your satisfaction or starving because you are trying to lose weight. You need to eat the right amount and the right kind of food — a balanced diet.
Smile
A smile has a way of brightening up your entire face. A brightened face always makes you look younger compared to a sad or dull face. Learn to smile often. You don’t necessarily need a reason to smile. Thinking of the fact that you are alive is enough reason to smile.
No matter the situation you are, there’s a saying that “where there is Life there is Hope”. Smile, You are alive!
Drink More Water
Those who know me know I’m a huge advocate of Water. Water is great for humans in many ways. Including the skin. Hydrating helps to strengthen your heart, your brain, your muscles. It generally, gives your immune system strength to fight against most illnesses.
When your heart, your brain and every other part of your body is functioning properly, your skin becomes healthier and in turn, gives you a younger look.
Wash Your face regularly with water: There are a lot of germs that settle on the face mostly because your face is usually the most exposed part of the body.
Most times when we go out, we wear clothes that cover up most parts of our body leaving our face bare.
Try washing your face regularly with a mild medicated soap. When you wash your face regularly, you re-hydrate your face and this leaves it looking fresh and young.
Take Care Of Your Teeth
Your Smile says a lot about you. I have seen people who are in their 30s and 40s smile and immediately look like they are sixteen. Most of the time this is because they have nice sets of teeth.
Taking good care of your teeth will help make your smile fresh and more captivating.
How often do you see a dentist and how often do you brush your teeth? I try to brush at least twice a day. Having a nice set of teeth would help give you younger look whenever you smile.
Trust me you do not need artificial products on your face to look young.
Pamper your beautiful face regularly, Drink enough water and try not to stress or worry too much about things you can’t control, you’d look younger. Thanks for reading to this point. You are the reason why I write.
